My boss delights in tagging me in to emails to our sales@ email address - as if I may be the only culpable company driver anyhow .................

@JP1 you have to admit it is a very good scam (for all the wrong reasons) how many people would stop and ask themselves how the police had their email address:eek:

But it must be very reassuring that you have such a kind and considerate boss who looks after his staff so well (y)

Latest email - stolen aircraft engines (overnight 13th/14th June) South Devon. E mail received today!

Message sent by
Linzi Berryman (Police, Community Messaging Officer, Devon and Cornwall)

Residents in the vicinity of aircraft / airfields:

Officers are investigating reports of thefts of aircraft engines which took place in South Devon overnight 13 / 14 June 2017.

We are asking for all residents/businesses in the vicinity of aircraft / airfields in Devon and Cornwall to please make observations for any suspicious activity.

If you see any suspicious activity, please contact the Police on 999 if offenders are still in the area at the time of your call, please make a note of registrations and descriptions. If you have any information please phone 101 quoting crime CR/047200/17.

Aircraft owners:

We ask all owners of Rotax-powered aircraft and airfields in general to double up on their security. Some engines have been 'clinically' removed’, others have caused damage to airframes that have led to them being written-off.

It is recommended that owners consider a PIR alarm linked through to a mobile phone and if possible CCTV that can be viewed remotely at the storage facility (hanger) as well as CCTV covering the approaches/entrance and images recorded and downloads available to be viewed.

If you see any suspicious activity around an airfield, please contact the Police on 999 if offenders are still in the area at the time of your call. If you have any information please phone 101 quoting crime CR/047200/17.

Please pass this information on to those it may be relevant to.

Police are warning the public to be aware of online scams and false online links.

This follows an incident recently whereby a 14 year old had an alert pop up on their mobile phone informing them that the phone had been hacked and they needed to phone the “Apple Support” number. The number provided was 0800 680 0156 - this is NOT APPLE SUPPORT so please do not contact this number.

Following this, a number of links to pornographic websites were sent out, which is obviously distressing for such a young individual. Therefore, please do not click on any links that you have not requested or are sure are safe and do not call any numbers as directed. Instead phone Apple support directly on their official number which can be found on their website.

If you have fallen foul of this, then ensure that you clear your browser history, log out of any active sessions on any social media sites and change all passwords for sites and email addresses.

Further help and advice can be found online on the Devon and Cornwall Police website and the Action Fraud website.

And another one:banghead: can imagine this would be worrying if an elderly relative / neighbour was telephoned by this type of fraudster and of course it gets around the information about not giving them your bank details:(

Itunes scam - 339 15 December 2017
We have received recent reports of residents receiving cold calls by telephone from a male purporting to be from a government agency stating that a fine needed to be paid / or tax owed.

The residents were asked to purchase Itunes vouchers from a shop and then to phone them with the code, the callers were very forceful in manner.

This is a scam.
Please be wary of any variation of this story, please hang up on these calls.
Please make neighbours aware of this, especially elderly or vulnerable.
If you have any concerns or information please phone 101 quoting log 339 15 December 2017. Thank you

The police are very keen to remove guns from the public these days and that can happen as a result of a malicious complaint even when you have done nothing wrong.

Be aware that the "receipt" they ask you to sign may not be a receipt at all but a form similar to the one below. (All personal information removed). How often do we sign something without reading it, especially when asked to do so by someone in a position of trust? Fortunately, I had my reading glasses on when they tried it on me and immediately spotted the "mistake". I have received information that mine is not an isolated case, so be aware.

A new 'livestock worrying' incident report form has been added to the Devon and Cornwall police website to aid reporting of stock worrying incidents.

Farm Watch - Livestock Worrying and Attacks
Devon and Cornwall Police are looking to improve the way Livestock Worrying and Attacks are recorded. We realise that a large number of these incidents go unreported each year, either because it is not easy to report or there is lack of faith in the police to get an outcome.

We have therefore created a dedicated incident report form that can be accessed on the Devon and Cornwall Police website. This has been designed to help record as much of the correct information as possible. Alongside the form is advice about livestock worrying and attacks.

Our call handlers will be receiving new guidelines for recording incidents as well as front line officers. Please take a look and use to report.
