@dontknowanything @H.Jackson so are you both running these coulters on your Horsches as direct drills ? straight into untilled ground ?
if so how are they performing ? having used the Dale tine with what so far looks like excellent results this autumn I'm very keen to find the right tined drill ..could a Horsch with Gen Openers fit the bill ?

You could sell tickets for a field walk! Myself and one other from Kent would be very interested to see how you are using the Gens. If something you would be happy to do please message me.

I didn't go with them in the end, although I do think they are good. We have put some fake solo coulters on our CO which should be good for peas, beans and OSR (and maybe wheat too?) and then a disc drill to go with this - might be a good setup. Not as good as a Dale, but much cheaper.

Hi , I am looking at the Gen openers and would like to know a bit more about row width and depth of fertilizer placement , looking at fitting them to a Horsch Sprinter and use granular fertilizer as much info as possible please ,thanks Mike

Honestly I think there is no difference. The construction is not so different. I think all steel pulled through wet clay soil will smear depending of humidity. Also when a single or double disc drill moves the soil.

It's the leading edge on the Dutch that's the problem it's at an angle that pushes soil under it Gen look to be more of a knife. I know wet clay will smear what ever the shape of metal but every little helps

Which openers do you use? We've got the original 6 inch ones with a closed base. Did wonder if the open based version would be any better at reducing smearing.

5 inch with closed base here, I know some that are running open base but think it's just to help with blocking on the 9m drills, don't like the look of it myself looks to leave seed band narrower and they must lose some seed down the middle
