I'm wanting to get more involved in hoof trimming on farm. The knives we have are as blunt as hell so wondering how do people sharpen theirs and what are the best knives
I presume the very cheap ones are crap but are the expensive ones worth the cash?

The bench grinder is good but you can set yourself up to sharpen them for a lot less than the £500 odd quoted there. I use a 1" sealey belt sander with the varying grades of belt through to a leather strop (on the grinder) with polishing compound. Check out Texas sharpening on amazon- they do a kit for £99 iirc and there's years worth of belts in there. On the plus side your sharpening doesn't have to be limited to your hoof knives either. Little and often is the key. On the knives side of things, the ones by frank dick seem to hold their edge the best. Hope that helps a little.
