You will definitely have more choice with 6150 than 3075. Good 3000 series are very rare now.

We have owned a 3085 Dynashift, a 6150 Dynashift and a 6265 Dynashift, the 6265 was the worst tractor we have ever owned, so I may be a wee bit biased but I would be looking for a 61 rather than 62.

Our 390 had the 12x12 box with 40k and was a brilliant tractor, but again like the 3000 series finding a good genuine one will come with a silly price tag!

In what way was the 6265 the worst of the tractors? I have always been told that 6200 tractors were streets ahead of the 6100 series; we have a 6150 and have been thinking about swapping it for something like a 6290 or an early 6400 series: so I am particularly curious to hear of faults on a 6200 series tractor.

Our 6140 has been more unreliable than the 6265 and 6270. 6140 has had 2 clutches, a turbo and no end of electrical problems. 6200 are much nicer to drive and better gearbox. 6265 has had 2 turbos but that's mainly down to being hammered on a combi drill, otherwise a good tractor. Can't fault the 6270.

Yeh nowt wrong with a good 6200! What
I'm looking to upgrade my mf565 - Which of the two tractors would be the better buy too look out for? Either a 6150 or a 3075? I've seen a few tidy 6150s about recently, but not many 3075's though. I assume they have Pretty much the same engine and gear box apart from dynashift / speed shift. I also Assume the front axles pivot pin is as bad promote to wear as the 3075, and Also assume the brakes are the similar for wear too and the potential to cause hydraulic pump issues. Is there any other problems a 6150 would have that the 3075 would have or vice versa?

Advice greatly recieved !
Aye, nowt wrong with a good old 6200 Massey!!(y)

What have you ended up buying in the end?

our t reg 6265 was a gutless heap of........ Not a patch on the 3075 it replaced
Our 6265 was a gutless bugger too!!!!!! In about 4000 hours the engine was rebuilt twice, it had new turbos, the list is end less, which was shame because it was a nice tractor to drive, if you kept the revs up!!! It had to go in the end. We replaced it with a 6480, a different beast altogether.

compared to the 6290s that we had it was rubbish. We still have a 399 & a 390T, they do bugger all nowadays but get dragged out every now n then. I know they don't have the refinements of the modern tractors but I still enjoy spending the odd day on them!!

I fink the 6265 was an early blue version of the perkins 1000 series engine something like stage 2 emissions compliance fitted with a Lucas pump and intercooler. You would think a few non standard tweeks would be able to get one sorted :D
Tho agree the 90's do go well from the word go(y)

Happy new year all! Still on the hunt for an upgrade.

Even the 6150's now seem very thin,on the ground, not seen many available now.

Some of the early 5455 etc are getting into the price range.

Is there any weakness's like the 6150 to look out for on them ?

590 would have the back end rolled out from under the cab every 1000 hours, sometimes twice the same month. If it wasn't lift arms refusing to lift it was the steel pipes inside cracking, starving the hydraulic PTO from oil. Everything had to be replaced, in the hope we would get a bit longer next time ...........

The 565 had mechanical PTO (on the clutch pedal) so you had half a chance .........
Yet my student farm ran them and they were never any real bother except for the odd head gasket on the 595. The 590s were opico turboed as well. pulled well for that era. I would sooner sit on a tidy 500 than the (is he listening?) 265.
