Transit connect down on power

Have an 03 transit connect that has lost its power, so put a new fuel filter on but still no better. So had a bit more of a look and a wire was broken on the egr valve so mended that but still no better, so have now fitted a blanking plate on the egr but still no better:mad:
Is there any other fuel filters other than the main one as it still seems like it is short of fuel and is so slow to accelerate (like half the normal power)
Is there anything else it could be as don't want to be doing the fuel pump really as it will be probably be more than the van is worth
@Mursal any ideas?

We had a LR defender, TD5 engine with similar symptoms, it was the Mass air flow meter that was faulty. I've no idea wether the connect has a similar engine

Yes the Mass Air Flow could be the problem, follow the air pipes form the filter box, not sure where it is on a Connect. Looks like the one below just disconnect to test, the van should run better in the default mode? If so, clean or replace. Also check all air pipes for leaking under pressure when you rev the engine up, especially the intercooler radiator out front.

If still the same, consider getting it plugged in, on a price to read the fault codes, local independent garage will be able to do it.
£20 - £30 should point you the right direction.

The bigger 350 of that age had a Bosch VP44 injector pump I believe (non common rail), with an electronic head, that gives no end of trouble.
But usually kills the van dead .............

Also check the control rod on the turbo isn't stuck.

If you could take it and leave it at

http://www.feather-diesel.co.uk/

in Elland they would give you a definitive answer and a take it or leave it quote.

Non of "try this, try that", just a diagnosis and a fix at very reasonable cost.

Will check all these things in the morning but got me thinking as the air pipe from the filter to the turbo has a small split in it, could that be the problem?
does the vehicle smoke excessively when foot on the board?if so it is the air pipe, had it with my old discovery 3 (now sold thankfully) replaced the pipe problem solved,(well that one )good luck

I didn't think it would bother it but isn't the mass air flow sensor on that inlet pipe?
I did check the intercooler and vacuum pipes the other day but will double check them
