All things Dairy

Cos we are full of slurry! That and that floor is lower than the current shed, slight problem. Think we are going to raise the floor. Looking forward to getting cows in to it, putting the easifix cubicles in, all in the one group so hope they don't fight over them!! Either that or they will avoid them, I can't see that tho looking at the state our old shed, the old shed cubicles need replaced so if they like them we wil put easifix in old shed aswell.
I didn't know the shed builder who will remain anon was letting slurry in the new tank, hoping he's thinking about concreting the floor this week but I wouldn't know!
green cubicles ?

View attachment 587776 Could never get as many cows eating on the shed side of the barrier they would all come out to the straigh pipe, so I thought we'd try a section out to see if it was the tight passage or the yokes.. anyone want to buy 165ft of yokes
I'm interested. What length sections do they come in? I'm going to replace some standard diagonal barrier with locking yokes for vet work. Think they'll be on 10 ft centres. I'll have a look and check how many I need.

It wouldn't be natural for a cow to stick her head in a tight space like a yoke, willingly. If you didn't want her to, different story, be forever getting stuck then....

Like many others today is the day that the cows went out. Great feeling. View attachment 491010

Cows on final round in this field now. Started grazing 24th March this year. Been grazed for the 8th time and cut once in tge season. Only 1 field left for block grazing after this. So weather dependent they will either go free range on silage fields or indoors in around 12 days time. Been good year for grass growth. Tricky for grazing.
