Being a dim southerner I have no idea what a roup is.
Can you get an ointment to get rid of it if one occurs?

In the local dialect(called Doric ) in NE Scotland a "roup" is the word used for a farm sale!!
As in, "Fit like I'day? Did ye buy onythin at Jocks roup last wik???"
Translation for those of you who can't speak properly is "How are you today ? Did you purchase anything at Johns farm sale last week?"

On the subject of local terms , I have a pal who is well into the walking in the lakes . He was following an auld fella with a couple of dogs and a flock of sheep . "Them's grand sheep y'have there mister " "Aye , aye " "just moving them then ?" " Aye , Aye" after a bit of thought . "How many lambs have you got then ? " Nay , well , I doesn't reckon to count 'em till , we've done , that way I don't get disappointed . " So-o-o , how do you count 'em then ? , Thinking he was going to get a first hand "yan tan tethera methera bit to tell in the pub when he got home . " I counts 'em one two three four like everybody else , ya grett stupid bugger " To be fair he counts it as a great joke on himself , when he does recount it .

Its a lovely farm. Sold to a local guy as well. Been very well farmed for years. His kit is excellent.Never mind the roup, it looks like a pretty nice place!
