Hydraulic driven auger

I'm wanting to find a hydraulic motor to drive a 5' long 4"diameter horizontal auger. But only have a 20L/min hydraulic output. The questions are, how much power would the auger take? Does such a motor exist?

Yes but they are usually mounted to a planetary transmission to really increase the torque out of the thing. We’ve got a Digga PD5 which from memory uses an Eaton hydraulic motor. I’d need to check. The flow sounds a bit low to me, but then again 4” is tiny really. What sort of ground.

You have told us the flow rate. What pressure do you have available.

Aha. In that case disregard my post as I jumped in assuming you wanted an earth auger drive.

However no reason why you can’t do what you want with a fairly modest hydraulic drive.

I see @Mr Happy is on the case, so I shall bow out!

Ok with this info and what I have in stock. If you use a 50cc motor you can achieve 380rpm auger speed and you will get 3kw of power. If the speed is not correct you can use a different displacement hyd motor.

what you using the auger for ?
i want to do the same for filling lamb creep hoppers

3kw is plenty of power. But 380 would be a bit slow. Would a smaller cc motor be faster?

A smaller motor will give you more speed but you will get less torque.

5 ft x 4 inch augar on the flat, anything above a half horse power will do, you could even drive it from 12 volt motor

Starter off a small engine, or even a decent wiper motor.
As a quick test, hook up a battery drill and try it
