You would think that heavy rain falling on the "tops" of the boards would either run down the boards, or through to the inside.

Then I guess you would have to close the spacings of the cladding rails a bit, to support the boards at something like the same centres as if they were put on vertically.
Should think you would have to measure regularly as you went along to make sure boards run equally top and bottom of cladding, and set gap top and bottom with piece of timber each time.
Will be interesting, take us some pics as you go.

Looks well.
I still think driven rain will run down insides of boards a bit, but if customer is not worried, happy days.
How did you keep it all symmetrical, did you have to measure both ends of each board down from the eaves beam, and set them all the same in each section?

Measured centre in every bay and middles of each stantions (marked a line threw the centre)cut 1 end of the board off then placed it on the bottom and then marked again where it met the line and cut
Was quite easy once we got going just took a lot longer

Technically that’s space boarding not Yorkshire boarding ( wether straight or diagonal) Yorkshire boarding is 2 rows of boards with inside row overlapping the gaps of the outer row with wider spaces between boards

This one is Cream of Galloway Rainton Farm @Col555. I designed this back in 2009 or 2010 I think it was. Boarding was designed to look a little more interesting. This front gable also didn't need any ventilation.
