I think there is one working in north essex, but Cross slots currently flavour of the month here as I can think of at least five CS drills nearby.

isn't it time for a change?
If I remember correctly do you change around every 5 years the system, or? Why not this time Sly drll....

thought you were a CS man York?
Sorry, it wasn't meant to be insulting.....
You are right, Dr. Baker stayed in our flat in '01 or so and we had the 1st CS demo in Nov. '03. Didn't change my fascination for this system since then.
But I'm not like a horse with blinkers on or having a "tunnel view", I still have a full wide view ;-)
Even allowing NT to be practicable without Glyphosate & in organic farming system.

How does it compare to the weaving Gd or the cross slot for soil movement and accurate depth control?

The Boss drill has many different advantages.

Firstly if we are comparing it to the weaving gd you will notice the difference on the visibility (Coulters are to the front and tyres to the back on the boss.) When we run analysis on the double angled disc we found that the down pressure requirement was reduced and more manageable versus seed furrow compaction.
The double angled disc of the BOSS drill works by snatching. It always tries to get more and more in the ground according to speed and depth. The faster and the deeper you go, the less pressure you’ll need.
This ensures a great furrow quality, which will allow a seed germination and root development.

The units down pressure - The unit is mounted on a parallelogram. Down pressure is achieved via hydro-pneumatics.
Connected to a sensor on the gauge wheel, the hydraulic down pressure allows ultimate control of the coulter pressure. This gives an ideal situation to monitor and control furrow compaction and depth.

Here is the link to explain about the boss drill.

What is the top operating speed recommended for these coulters?

Pictures show quite a lot of soil movement. So is more soil exposed compared to the weaving.?I do like the idea of automatically adjusting pressure on the closing Wheels.

Have return from Agritechnica yesterday and the DD drill that chatch my intressed is the SLY drill.
Im look forward to see it in action in the future ?
This drill looks to be simpel and easy.
Would like to have a demo in Sweden next year?
