Massey Ferguson Global range

Was the $350 million investment in a new 'basic' range a success?

In passing, an industry analyst mentioned to me that both concept and execution had failed, leading to revamps and an internal re-organisation at Agco. Chinese whispers, so to speak - appropriate for a machine made, at least partly, in China.

I know I should have pressed for more details, but my attention was distracted - hence my question.

Are these the global range that have only just been released, bit soon to judge whether a success or not surely?
Released elsewhere in the world some time ago - only now available in the UK.

I think US dealers had them in stock, in cabless form, in 2015? The cabs came from a European supplier (I think) at a later stage.

You can tell I wasn't paying attention, when I should have been. I just occurred to me, when the 4709 was being discussed. I happened to mention to someone that I met that we were thinking of a MF but it was rather expensive (as you do) when he explained what he did for a living, and his impression of the management of the Global range.

No cab, no electronics? Where can I buy one?

First I've heard of them.(n)

No-cab is optional. Of course they have electronics, this is getting towards the end of the first quarter of the 21st Century for goodness’ sake! They will have electronic engine management and linkage control at least, plus an electronic instrument cluster which even my 1984 JD 2140 SG2 had.

First port of call to buying one would, taking a wild guess here, your local MFdealer.
