Never on a 550 but were they a little under powered with all the cab weight compared to a 135 and roll bar? I liked the 500 series as a student, such a leap ahead comfort wise from the 100s. Apart from 595 head gasket I don't recall them being much of a problem either and yet they seem to be disliked by many.

Cab wise a mile behind the Ford, only one door that couldn't be closed if the face of a breeze.

I did not drive the bubble cab Ford until later on but I never minded only one door on the MF and thought the access superior. The Bubble with the flat floor and gears to the right was nice but the 6600 I did not like. I did not like the 600 MF either when that came in after driving the 500s and 2000s.

I agree single door had easy access but it was a big heavy thing to close especially if the wind was catching it. Ford bubble cab had that annoying split back window which was always flapping about till it got broken. Both cabs had good and bad points.

I had a 550 and a 565 at the same time, the 550 seemed to punch well above its weight, not a huge lot of difference between the two.

And it's lift off.......
