You all have inspired me to give it a go, I already started about a month ago, but I've been down for about 2 weeks with a back injury, hoping to get started again this week.
I already eat healthy, I just need to eat less , I also need to exercise more, going to start off with walking and work my way up.

I figure if I'm making the move to NZ next year, I need to be skinnier :bag::sorry:

So, for years now I've hovered around the mid to high 80's kg in weight. I exercise & run regularly, 3 - 4 times a week with a very good athletics coach

But, being a middle aged Australian, I am carrying a bit more around the waist than I'd like. Exercise is great for fitness, mobility & health, but doesn't do a lot for weight loss

So, I thought I'd try the 5/2 Michael Mosley idea of fasting, just skipping a few meals each week

I'm now below 80kg & 19% body fat for the first time in maybe 15 - 20 yrs

I'm shocked at how easy it is. Just don't eat much for a couple off days each week. So easy, especially if you are busy

Anyone who wants to lose a few kilos, I'd recommend giving it a try

Had what turned out to be a sporadic hemi-plegic migraine a couple of weeks ago, symptoms are very like a stroke and my left arm was paralysed.

Everything cleared up within half an hour but it scared the sh!t out of me enough to bother the GP the next day (had to tell the receptionist I thought I'd had a stroke to get a f**king appointment this year:banghead::mad:), sent into the stroke clinic and got everything checked out all is OK except my BP and cholesterol were very high and gave me a big kick up the arse.

Immediately made some small adjustments to my diet and started brisk walking 2-3 miles a day, now up to up to 4-5 miles a day and my BP is well down within acceptable levels. Going to the practice nurse today to check everything is heading in the right direction. Ideally still need to lose around 12kg over the next few months.

I use the pacer app on my iphone to track my activity, aiming to be over 5,000 steps every day. I don't have an active job, so sometimes it is a struggle (especially in this weather).

I appreciate that a fitbit would count much more steps than a phone app.

Last week I went from 11st 10lb to 11st 4lb in three days thanks to the winter sh!ts & spews virus (y)(y)(y)

Back up to 11-7 yesterday.

I've swapped my lunchtime sandwich for two big carrots, which has been a great help and not too disappointing. Easy to be hungry through the day, then go mad with an enormous plate full in the evening :banghead:

Yeah, I had one of those maybe 10 yrs ago, vision went blurry, arm paralysed, slurred speach, thought I was having a stroke ( aged 40 ). Wife drove me into ER at the local hospital, I was curled up on the floor of the car as I couldn't sit up properly.
Turned out it was apparently a type of migraine, made worse by a combination of heat stroke, dehydration & possible chemical / toxic affects.
Never had it happen again. But, I am also a lot fitter than I was then also

Scary though . . .

Going ok here. Resisting temptation is hard when your OH is eating cakes and yummy stuff, even he is surprised by my willpower this time.
I'm not starving myself but eating reasonable portions....find it worse in the evenings when I'd normally munch. Replaced now with skinny popcorn and solero icecreams which only have 100 cals. Really miss cheese and crackers with Port though:(
Ran 2.4 miles the other night in 30 mins, with ease, which might not sound much to most but blooming amazing for me. Still not been on scales but gone up another notch on the belt. Happy days:)

Now that I have less farm work to do I am getting back on the rower, to lose a bit of weight and also exercise the lungs a bit harder. I used to do a lot, even chasing personal bests. Not particularly good at the 2k pulls at high intensity, much better at 5k and 10k; guess I always was a plodder! 10 years ago at 57 I did a half marathon row in 1hr 24mins. I was very angry that day which helped a lot.

Came back from the nurse pretty depressed - my heart rate thing under reads quite a bit and my bathroom scales under read by @2.5kg so things aren't progressing as quick as I'd like.

This morning I'm thinking, OK I'm starting from a worse position than I thought but I KNOW I'm heading in the right direction, belt has come in a notch and I'm walking easier and breathing better, posture has improved as well, so just keep going.

Left arm is very slowly getting less painful so might be able to swing a golf club after Christmas. Not really bothered by the changes in my diet might be different if I had to cut out my morning coffee though.

Christ on a bike @Clever Dic how the hell did you do that? Not followed this thread from the beginning... that's really impressive, at the moment I'd be more than happy with your 'before' shot let alone the 'after'! Well done!
I've decided January must bring changes, what sort of dietary and exercise regime were you on to get those results if you don't mind me asking?
