how difficult a job is it to replace the telescopic ram pipes (the rubber ones) on a 536-60, does the boom need to come out or can it be done some other way, I've thought for a while they were leaking and it was confirmed when it had loler test last week

I have done a 541-70 before without removing the boom it has an access door at tge back from which you can reach inside the boom and just about reach the only clip that holds the pipes
I do remember having to make some special spanners to get the pipes undone from the steel pipes at the headstock end
Cut them down and welded a handle on at a funny angle i think then took an old hydraulic fitting and welded a washer to it and filled it down to tie a piece of rope to as tried tieing roound the outside of the pipe but it made it to bulky
Took a while to to do as very fiddly but easier than taking boom apart as done that on same machine

Don't take the boom out,Tie some big bale string to the end of the pipe and draw the string through with the old pipe and repeat in the opposite direction to insert new pipes,If you have a hydraulic company local i would go and get 4 male plug ends to screw into your old pipes and weld a chain link to them to tie the string to they pull through a lot better when pulled straight from the end and it stops any dirt going in Check your boom wear pads are not worn as there is minimum measurement for these or the boom rubs on the pipes and use genuine pipes

The 536-60 i looked at had clamps in the back which looked like they were too far in and too much in the way to get at?

Oh and genuine pipes only if i was doing.
