I presume you do away with the pin and use clamps to hold the wheel in position? Has anyone got any pictures of there’s?
I just undid the bolts and pulled the wheel off and fitted to a demountable extension. Friend has a wheel permanently fitted to his extansion axle

need to keep the whole shaft clean, dont want to fill the wheel bearing with dirt when you pull the wheel out, and the less cleaning to do, the better.

I get you now. Think I may have a bit of sprayer hose that’s about the right size to slip on. Thinking about making some brass thrust washers to go between clamp and wheel to try and stop anything wearing.

Wheel bush is cast iron, thats a good bearing surface in its own right, just make sure the collars have a reasonable contact area.

Have discovered today early 59s have the depth wheel arm stepped down to a smaller size for the clamp and wheel hub! Luckily have a few to choose from!

Always a bonus if putting a pressed 59 wheel on an RSLD. The bushes are usually worn and can be machined out. Did notice that Westlake had a couple of brand new hubs at Newark last.

I was thinking about doing this. What are the benefits of using the presses wheel? I presume you put it on inside out and run it against furrow wall? These may seem silly questions but it’s the first rsld I have had anything to do with.

Got one ready to go on mine. Slightly larger diameter and always run clean. Some people back them up to the furrow wall whilst others plate the other side up. They don’t tend to cut in like the original spoked one does.
Ideal solution is to get one off an Elite trailer plough made for the job.

But a pressed 59 wheel will need some strakes to drive the sprocket and rack. Can you find a second sprocket, make an extension and flip the wheel for the last run? It keeps the shaft covered and maintains lift.
