osr header losses.

I've been offered a biso extension with oil driven side knives. Is it decent kit?
The chap tells me it will make winter beans a dream to cut too although I've heard from different sources that they are no good in beans. I can't really justify the expense just for my osr. Was banking on using it in beans too .

We have changed combine for this coming harvest and got a biso extension with it, the chap we bought it off said that the extension is ok in tall beans but no good in short crops, also farmer down road from us says exactly the same thing.

I suppose that would be a reasonable assumption. A short crop would fall on to the table without reaching the auger.

Bought one four years ago for our 68. Transformed rape harvest both in terms of losses and output. Only downside was adapting the trolley to carry it and having to add a third lift cylinder to the combine for 24ft one.

Put a biso plus hyd side knife on our 24ft TF 78 and was a great help - as Vernon says had to put some poles to extend header width and bought a third cylinder kit off APH. Tried extension in spring beans but not great - rape only.

Having had an extension although ours was a zurn they are good but I found a faff. What combine you got? Would it be out the equation to invest in a newer combine with a vario header then you know it will be good for osr and beans

Putting it on a tx 65, 17 ft so hoping it won't need a third ram.
When it's on the header and put on the trailer does it protrude too much to be legal on the road or do "farmer rules" have to apply?
Have thought it would be better to put the money towards upgrading to a combine with a vario header but don't cut a massive acreage so can't justify spending too much. What sort of money would a tidy more modern NH equivalent of a tx65 cost me ?
Might even have to change colour.
Our neighbour runs a JD and the header seems so much deeper than ours that he doesn't need a vario.

Does stick out a bit wider on the road, think it makes our trolley with extension about 9 feet wide. Though I had better pictures but only have two from when we fitted ours up.

Does anyone know much about this particular model in terms of reliability.
I need the straw too so dont want anything that is going to chew it up.
I think they are as reliable as combines come I've had a 6 walker one the same for 9 harvests and it's been very very reliable only a few minor problems that all combines get. They are good on the straw but it does drop from higher so possibly sits lower in the stubble but not a problem. Don't know about tx65 really but guess there similar size
