I was going on an old article the suggested a local value of 4K ha and the Chinese had paid in excess of 11k ha. But I take your point that it is difficult to know who as actually paid what for where in these cases.
The "chinese" are a consortium headed by marc fressange he imports wine to china,the funding is run through a singapore investment bank,
they have bought some shares in the land owning companies and the farming companies,because the share transaction is not subject to SAFER inspection the price is not disclosed but i can promise you it is no where near the figure you have quoted,

Or perhaps you can just tell us how it can be arranged that Brexit will never happen? I am sure we would all like to know by what means it could be achieved.
I am quite happy with the senior members of the UK government. They are all a lot smarter than most folks around. They have the sense not to rush things or tell the whole world what their negotiating stance is. I have found it laughable since the referendum that so many people are insisting that the UK government tells everyone in advance of meetings what their strategy is. Obviously such people have never done any negotiating of their own, or if they have, they came out very badly.

We will see how and if brexit occurrs...i assume the longer it is left the more chance of another vote...

How about dealing with what I posted? You do not know do you? yet you believe it will happen.
What a load of nonsense too in attacking the strategy of taking one's time over negotiations - the timescale has more to run than has passed. It is not a matter of conditioned to "being kept in the dark", but those doing the negotiating not revealing more than necessary to the opposition, and they are the opposition, no ifs or buts about it. They are not giving much information away either are they?

I will believe brexit the day its on the news that you are out....
Why do i dis believe...because the govt is involved...and the EU. The level of corruptikn i govts is always high...so i find it very hard to put faith in them to handle such a task.
Personally i wiuld have thought a special task force made up of the various stakeholders private and govt would have been appointed to carry this out..not the govt of the day. Thats my opinion. And the people should be updated weekly on progress...and i 100% agree some may be best kept secret...but certainly not all.
Tick your bucket list...you met an aussie that doesnt gamble...not even on a farming forum...which seems a weird place to place a wager in the first place

My German visitor who works for the Bundesbank reckons we will be OK with Brexit. She says that when Germany reunified they had similar worries about a catastrophic economic collapse but it worked out alright in the end, against all the " expert " advice.
