New Land Rover Defender?

I wonder if, after spending £40,000 plus on a new defender. You still have to stop the draughts around the doors with your scarf?!

Surely that is the character of them - why follow the flock and be a lemming. Live as a free spirit and get dripped on

I could live with this concept if it is the one. Still couldn't afford it however. :(

That is not a defender - it is just another disco sport with the rear glass missing.

All the new LR's are similar looking, which will be the end of my affiliation with them I think.

‘N’ plate 90 defender had since new costs about 150-200/yr to keep on the road and now going up in value. I’d say that was better value and I’m sure insurance is far less too.
A friend has an X reg 90 which he's had from new. He says similar to you but he only does 5k miles a year max. Someone doing 25k miles a year would be spending a damn sight more IME.

Ah now that' the differnce between someone who occasionally drives a defender for fun and someone who drove one daily for thirty years. I don't recall smiling much whilst driving one.

I drive it every day, not a fun drive. My misses thinks Im mad because of how it looks curently - but I love it. Grew up driving all the old non encap rate cars - plus a die hard motorcyclist - so your theory of me is totally off.

I remember Kate Moss being asked why she liked driving hers. Her answer was classic. After driving past all the other vehicle stuck in deep water (floods a lot where she lived apparently) you just open the door, let the water out and drive on. [emoji106]

Currently paying £3360/year + vat for a Amarok lease and £3624/year + vat for a NP300. Warranty included. Service costs fixed as well for the duration of the lease.

Doesn’t pay to own it at those figures!
Those figures are very good indeed. Where did you find those deals at?
I agree, it is not worth buying new if you like to keep a fresh vehicle, but over 10 years you are still paying out £33600 and you don't even have a vehicle to show for your expense. In the same time as you payed out all that money, my work truck defender 130 has cost me zero, and is pretty much ready for the next 10years and yet another 100000 miles.

Well I drove the sh1t out of an 80 for 9 years. Drove the sh1t out of one of the very first 110's for 8 years & am still driving the sh1t out of a fab 110 200 series. They have been all over the place, never a serious break-down, mainly punctures. Always accepted parked in a farmers gateway whilst I sleep & are just the best for towing (Not the 80 which was just surprising at 90MPH)
If I can keep the current 25 year old machine going for another 10 years I'll be very happy.

At one point I was offered over 20k more for mine than it cost new !

Values have sinse softened a bit but it’s still worth more than I paid new in 2016

We put seat risers in our defender so we could drive through deeper water without getting a wet arse!
