Claydon depth wheels

I've got a 3m hybrid and have never been happy with the way it travels on just the two wheels. Its fine on firm stubble's with the hopper not over loaded, but if your on soft or cultivated ground or going across slopes it starts to struggle with keeping a consistent seed depth. The problem is compounded when you fill it with seed. Question is has anyone retro fitted either the claydon twin wheel assembly or fabricated something of their own to tackle the problem and how well have the solutions worked.
Sorry if this has already been covered.
Thanks

I'm guessing this is a 3 m machine , have u been using it for very long ? As when we first got drill until we got the land leveled up it could be a bit of a pig going across slope

My 4.8 hybrid with 4 wheels, can suffer the same problems, you've got to keep a close eye on the seeding depth across the drill (and back to front) it's basically a rigid tine cultivator with seed hopper, it is not a precision planter. Even with the depth wheel turnbuckles measuring the same on mine, 1 side can be seeding deeper. I do have very level field surfaces but no flat fields at all but results have nearly always been good if you're particular with setting up.
More wheels on yours would help, you just might struggle to find room in the frame to fit 2 more ?
I expect the big trailed one's with full width tyre packers are more accurate but maybe not so good in the wet.

Yes, I think rolling more in front does help. The problem with the three meter is it has quite a high center of gravity because of the big tank for a narrow machine. You can get the double wheels from Claydon, I think they just bolt on to the existing bracket but I don't think they're cheap, but then upgrading to a trailed machine would probably make the eyes water.

I had the same problem with my SR ,but also had the added complication of varying the front tines as i went.Theoretically the front tine depth shouldn"t make any difference to the seeding depth, but it did.In the end i gave up drilling in the dark .I looked at different ways to tackle these problems ,but never came up with an ideal solution. For various reasons i now have a different drill.
