What are peoples vet costs per litre of milk sold? We are roughly 1.6PPL on a loose housed system 2x milking. Wondered how this compares to other farms and systems.

Ours won't be far away from a penny, it was lower than that in last years accounts. all year round on cubicles, graze lows through the summer.
0.7ppl for all vet,med inc vaccines and dry off tubes

0.88ppl for 7500 litre autumn block Calve, mostly Holsteins.
0.34ppl for vet time (weekly visits during breeding)
0.54ppl for medicines, bolus's vaccines.

Rough estimate of 0.3ppl all in. Including teat sealant.

What i will say is its not all about vet costs. Our labour costs would be higher through longer teat prep, extra bedding costs, etc.
Can't really look at just vet costs to get full picture. Its like looking at machinery costs but ignoring contracting costs.

Yeah both herds.
Vets bill has doubled in £ terms in last 12 months.
Oh you want me to include the vet med i bought for cash? That would make the vets bill

.75p vaccinating a lot more here which has pushed it up from .5
are you all buying vet meds from the vet or shopping around ? surely like the ag chem world that's where the big saving can be made ?

Then the vets have too charge more for call outs and their time to make up for the shortfall in drug income.
