Drawbar pin where to buy

I’m looking for a slightly larger than usual drawbar pin.

It needs to be about 41/42mm.
Most dealers only stock pins up to 38mm.

Any idea where to buy?

I tried looking for a big pin for a friend and the easiest option appeared to be bucket pins for excavators but you’ll find they are all 40 or 45mm and maybe 44.5mm. Get a larger one and lathe it down I guess.

What material should such a pin be made from

En24? Or is there a material you can buy with s hardened outter surface

Think I read somewhere the eye of a trailer hitch is en6 or en12

What are digger pins made from

Can you get away without using hardened pins for certain applications?
For example, would using normal 30mm mild steel bar work fine for holding a hydraulic cylinder on a log splitter?

if its too hard, it will shatter.
if its too soft, it will wear.

So for a log splitter, with low frequency work, if its too soft you'll wear the pin out without (IMO) too much damage elsewhere.

I wanted a load of digger bucket pins to permanently attach, so i bought a length of EN16T and cut to length. they seem to have worked out well.

So what are the apparent Chinese quality draw pins from the likes of Vap/Sparex made from, dont seem hardly any better than mild steel..
