Completely of topic here, but could anyone recommend a good grass nitrogen test kit, im tired of waiting for my feed rep to come round a do it.
We've used ph strips before as a crude guide, but now I don't worry about nitrogen. Just make sure it's atleast 30% + dm, the drier the better and the more/better quality the protein in the silage will be

Not sure about very high DM I do see where you are coming from as to intake but to high a DM when it over 28% can cause problems with a stable silo face also there is a thought that you may be bleaching the protein out of the grass with very DM with tedding around a field in very a strong sun
 
Also worth noting that some USA dairy farmers add water to the feeder because their diets tend to be very high DM and as one farmer said to me how would you like to be eat nothing but dry crackers every day
