Good hay for free lying on the sides of the roads, never seen rain. Cheap labour would be the main problem.I think it's safe to say that we need some rain. I was pricing hay today from England. Up over 30 pounds a ton since friday
A lot of farmers In the same boat...hate saying it but we need rain. My cows are indoors 24/7 so grass management is not that difficult, but getting enough silage made can be....just mowed the second cut today....it would be bigger crop than the 1st cut but still not where I would like it to be.We were growing close to double the grass DM/ha this time last year, though it was getting to be a struggle to graze it. Have had to up meal feeding and give a bit of silage, and dried some off. Should hopefully keep me in some sort of grazing for the cows. Cant see us getting any rain for a while yet.
Sorry should have said were all bales so aim for 40% +. Averaged 18% protein last yr but know what you mean you can lose alot of protein and energy from wilting too long. We also add water to the tmr, about 6 litres a cow at the momentNot sure about very high DM I do see where you are coming from as to intake but to high a DM when it over 28% can cause problems with a stable silo face also there is a thought that you may be bleaching the protein out of the grass with very DM with tedding around a field in very a strong sun
European funding?????!!!!

Same hereA few round here have 2nd cuts in, most would say that it's heavier than 1st. 3rd cut will struggle if there is little rain for a month. Our 2nd still seems to be growing so will let it be for another 10 days or so, in case we don't get much 3rd.
I went Creagh but still waiting on delivery been slow. I’d say everyone has big lead times at min so get on the ball quick.
have you tried fp mc cannMoores are quoting delivery between start and middle of August. Macrete are looking a little better. I have not got talking to Creagh yet, how long have you been waiting?

That'll be an excuse for processors to delay the price rises that should have already happened
