I am a competent machinery operator who will work hard for you, and take great care of your expensive kit!
So the reality is I'm 51 years old. I have just returned to farming after a 28 year gap thanks to a contact of a contact. And its made me realise this is what I want to do from now on.
I have a National Diploma in Agriculture from Plumpton Agricultural College East Sussex 1988. I was top student in crop production and machinery. I also passed my PA1/PA2, which is still valid (although not used since 1989).
After college I worked on 1000 acre combinable arable farm in Essex where I did the spraying, combining (John Deere 1188 H4), ploughing (John Deere 4755 and 6 furrow reversible Dowesdale plough).
I was persuaded by my (now ex) wife to give it all up, and after a short time working in a hotel, my wife and I ran our own graphic design business which I left in 2015 with the end of my marriage.
Whilst loving my current farm job, I am looking for a new opportunity to give my all too. I am currently based on the Isle of Man, but would like to be back on the Mainland to be nearer my children. And to be honest, the boss is a lovely chap but he has driven all his kit in to the ground; I want to be able to take care of the equipment I'm responsible for.
I have a house in Crewe which I can travel from; if further a field I would need accommodation. Use of a farm vehicle to get to and from work would be appreciated, although happy to talk through what works for you.
I'm very personable and great within a team; likewise I'm very happy to work by myself.
