Just traveled from Preston Lancs to London via Crewe, Stafford, Lichfield, Rugby and Milton Keynes, and it's not a pretty sight at all, seems particularly bad once south of Stafford.
Plenty of very disgruntled looking trees, more than a few have given up the struggle.
And the few fields being grazed are down to virtually single digit blades of green grass.
Still, with the rate of house building going on, there won't be any yellow fields to look at anyway soon...

Our last proper rain was May 26th. We had 1.6mm in the whole of June and 0mm so far this month.

These are readings from three of the four local weather stations (Luton, Hitchin and Stevenage). The fourth - South St Albans - shows 4mm for June. It caught the tail end of a thunderstorm that plagued London a couple of weeks ago but which didn’t reach us....

We had a good slow rain for a couple of days about 6 days back, grass is starting to grow again. Unfortunately no amount of rain can bring the dead back to life.
