Why is there always 2 ways to see information and sometimes no Information at all

As you all know an old man can see so many more sides to a situation than anyone else.
Today a simple job sadly got round too after 5pm.
Acquired a foot switch for an ezsteer. Plug it in to EzSteer controller no joy try it on another setup no joy. Try Looking up a ds 25 plug for what pin is what number. (having difficulty finding what 2 pins are used to activate the ezsteer will give Ben a ring in the morning he is good at AS)
The problem is what side of the plug socket are you looking at! The plug I have doesn't seem to want to come apart to get in the back to find the numbers (probably couldnt see them if I got it open) any way
The Plug I am looking at (Male) 13 pins on the top 12 on the bottom
pin7 from the left on the bottom has a tone
pin7 from the left on the top has a tone.
What should they be?
Ideas before 9am would be great and thats the challenge.

Have you enabled remote engage on the display?

That is news to me will go out and see if I can do. It says on the screen use foot switch to activate or deactivate, will see if I can do Tah.

This was my solution but I’m allergic to expensive OEM parts. 99p printer cable from amazon is better.

Looking at the front of the connector it’s these two pins iirc

Doesn't matter which way round.

Then set this to remote engage:

@sleepy following your info above my plug is using pin 7 and pin 20 Now how do I open up the plug to Change? Hack saw at my side i will not be defeated. R

Are you holding the footswitch down for a few seconds? It doesn't work if you just tap it

@sleepy yes I did try that will go out and give it another go.
even took switch apart and held them together.
just going out of the door

If it is genuinely connected to those pins I don't think it will work. You will have to slice into the cable and reconnect it. multimeter at the ready to bell them out and work out which are the correct wires.

You and I are from the same cable making school of thought when it comes to DB9/15/25 connectored cables.

Why get out the soldering iron when you can chop the end of a perfectly good 99p printer/serial cable and use that!

This sounds drastic, but you can prove it works by connecting a short jumper wire into the female terminals on the DB25 female port on the T2 box, matching to pins 10 and 11 as @sleepy says.

Ah I get the drift on the printer cable are there 25 cables in one best go have a look.
