Simon if you are free come on up to a field talk and info session on the 13th of August 9. 30am or 2. 30 p m .
Marketing these through soya uk , united oilseeds are starting doing them as well ,
As for costs a full list will be available on the day
So far seed dd drill roll pre em and yesterday night I gave them 1 lt of Azoxystrobin with I lt of Baf 420 and 2 lts of spire that's it . Have been may be a bit late with that fung / trace element spray as signs of deficiency are just starting to show but due to the hot weather didn't want to put the crop under any stress and cause scorch .
The baf420 is mainly Manganese an d sulphur
spire boron /magnesium/molybdenium and sulphur .
Next pass should be desiccation in about 6 weeks .
then dd ww straight in to stubbles. I will put up full costings on here in a few days .

Soya weekly update 5/8/18 . We have given it a good dose of trace elements as since we had the rain last week I have noticed a fair bit of yellowing in the crop so went ahead and sprayed trace elements and chucked in the azoxystrobin fungicide at the same time to save passes .I think a leaf sample should be tested just to put my mind to rest.

Well I do hope that all that turned up today for soya uk's field walk had a good insight into the growing and marketing of soya had over 60 people turn up in total .

Do they stand like beans, or go flat to the floor the day before the combine arrives?

In all the years I’ve grown them I’ve never had them go flat. To be fair to Soya UK they have carefully developed varieties that stand upright ( don’t forget that most soyabeans grow prostrate and you’d need a specialist flex header to harvest them ) and are also suitable to be grown in the UK. I’m slightly concerned that other companies are jumping on the Soya bandwagon and might introduce unsuitable varieties and risk all the progress that has so far been achieved.

I agree with all of your post Simon there will be plenty of others trying to jump on the band wagon . Personally we would stick with Soya uk all the way, as they are excellent with back up and advice and always like to deal with smaller firms rather than the big boys . They have a wealth of knowledge of growing them in the uk others are having to start from scratch .
