So if the French screw up their IT system it makes it OK for ScotGov to waste £180 million of tax payers money?

At least it makes a change from blaming all their fudgeups on 'Westminster' :D

The basic requirements of the IT system were laid at EU level. As far as I'm aware there has been no nation implemented their system without problems.

It doesn'tmake it OK that Scotgovs has failed, but it highlights how widespread the problems are and how difficult it was to implement in the first place.

But dont let the facts get in the way of ignorance.

Do you mean the wee white book of 'facts'?

And if you knew anything, you'd know Richard Lochhead spent 2 years fighting this IT system!
He said it wouldn't work and he did not want to implement it. But the NFUs fought hard to get it. Now maybe Lochhead was too weak, or maybe for once NFUs used their power - but it was their model which was used. And as soon as it became apparent it was going to fail, NFUs distanced themselves and have been kicking the govt. ever since.

If you want to blame anyone for the turd Fergus Ewing is trying to polish, then it is the NFUs.

Do you have any links to articles or reports that would support your version of events regarding the introduction of the computer system, who proposed it and who opposed it?

If what you say is true then it's surprising that more has not been made of it by the SNP.

It wasn’t actually the IT system that the NFU fought for,it was the system of payments that they wanted as it was seen to be the fairest across the country to all members. The IT system and its utterly shambolic delivery is down to Scotgov and the civil servants within it.

Yes that seems to be a more credible version of events.

Apart from anything else I couldn't see how the NFU would be involved in choosing an IT system for the Scottish Government.

With out trying to sound like a dick, what "weather related problems" have the Scottish suffered from that the rest of the country hasn't ?
its got nothing to do with weather.

but! we should get tourist relief. The constant good weather has flooded the country with people and cars. Far more arduous than a bit of snow and ice.

You all also realise those Civil Servants in Soughton House are Untouchables - they are above government. This IT system would be a failure regardless who was in power because those barstewards don't lose their job.

So the debacle is the fault of the NFU or the Civil Servants but it definitely isn't the fault of the SNP Government?

No.

But your blind and ignorant to blame ONLY the SNP which is what is being attempted, ignoring the fact there's a lot of other sh*t that went, and goes, on.

That's the thing about being in Government, you're responsible for what happens while you're in office.

The cult members don't seem to understand that.
