Were you at Llangatok by any chance? family was clearing Alwyns plot as well! Even managed a few handfuls from mine too!Nice defence there Harry, by your own standards any handling is not to be tolerated, but in this case you defend the indefensible ?
Add to that use of family labour to harvest straw off the plot and you may see where some commentators are coming from
cant polish a turd? Well in fact you can, bake it in the oven, sand and polish! Seriously though, in my class, I have seen starts totally constructed by hand, from a pile of broken lumps of dirt. Perhaps its the larger furrows that lend themselves to this operation, its certain that we have some of the best, they would be quite good at walling, and I wish they would find that more interesting than ploughing!
When ever I complain to DC about his hand work, out comes the "When in Rome" mantra, well he was not in Rome down here and credit has to be given where due, his hands stayed off the ploughing, and at Llangatok, he had plenty of reason to get them dirty, pulling wet straw and grass out of the work, he didnt, and the person who did was most upset to finish second!
