Just been in a small shunt with the car, car braked in front of me and stopped and I was slow to react simple as that, as far I as can see just cosmetic damage to their car and crackfront bumper on mine, I would be doing 10mph at most at impact, he took photos and my phone number, and as my phone was in car didn't get the chance to get photos or his details before he drove off ( I was seeing if my kids were alright, they wonderd why we were stopped !) Phoned my insurance company (NFU fully comp) got ref no. he said he would phone later, seemed an genuine chap so not expecting any hassle but anything to watch out for when he phones, I will ask for him to send the pics he took. Do I need to report to police ! First car accident I've ever been in !

no need to inform police if no injuries leave it all to the insurance company its what you pay your premiums for

Make a pencil sketch of the scene, road names position of cars, weather, surface conditions etc and any witnesses. As you haven't got your own photos of damage you could state other party has. have you photo'd front of your car now just to prove no damage and therefore low speed. You are more than likely to be asked for this sketch info on the Accident Report form the NFU will ask you to complete. Pass everything to the NFU if you receive anything direct from the other side.
ps bad luck :(

Good plan.

Always helps to write some notes down on the day of the crash too so you have info to refer back to. Sometimes these things can drag on a bit.

Had one with a hire car fee provided by RAC. The claim for the hire fee from the other party took 18mths to finalise....and only once court proceedings were issued.

Got photos of his car, difficult to see any damage to be honest !

Appreciate that - and ok this is unusual so improbable - but once, my 60+ year old mother was taken to County Court after a junction no damage 'bump' when the 'bumpee' then lost time at work and also subsequently claimed not 'whiplash' but 'stiff' neck also meant he lost a week's pay through loss of driving income. We were so incensed and dogmatic as mum was 'in the right' that we went to Court - and lost.....He had third party insurance on an old Astra
