It`s the ROI that likes referendums even better that the remoaners. It is written into their constitution that they have to have one every time the wind changes.

Democracy in action....the result of having a proper modern constitution. And for general elections we are blessed to have a proper proportional representation voting system over here. None of that anti democratic, establishment favouring, first past the post codology..

Oh, and we elect our President .... choice of the people ..... President for the all the people, not head of one church and head of state for members of all church’s and none.

I commend democracy .... full unadulterated democracy to you guys.

An unelected head of state.
An unelected House of Lords.
First past the post.
The Eu is the most democratic thing we have and what do we do ? Send a bunch of idiots out as meps to represent us, then complain when no one listens to them.

Last night in Bolton Nigel Farage stood beside David Davies and Kate Hoey and called all the democratically elected leaders of the Eu 27 a bunch of gangsters!

Respect????

Gosh, going by the criticism over on the Ag Bill thread, either nobody responded or Gove just took on board the bunny hugger submissions.

Quite correct but we now have 1 government to change rather than 28.

We CAN win this battle .. all we have to do is stick together.

IMHO Gove is finished.

I agree with the above. The UK has no respect for it’s neighbours why should they respect us. Brexiteers have peddled the disrespectful myth that the EU would abandon it’s principles just to suit there fantasies from day one. May should accept a Norway type option and put it to a referendum, if she won’t I wager Corbyn will.

As an original fundamentalist remainer, based entirely on the fact I make my living from UK agriculture and I concluded that leaving would be nuts. BUT after recent events I am beginning to think leaving is now a preferred option. I do find it hard to believe that EU business is really fully supporting Barnier and his obstruction tactics.

Tbh anybody surprised at the outcome of the summit hasn’t been paying attention or isn’t aware of the facts. The Eu have told mrs may on day one that she can’t cherry pick. You can only be polite for so long yet she is persevering with this Chequers nonsense. Over the last few months she sent ministers on missions to Eu capitals to try and divide them. She has failed miserably.

There lies a problem. So many of the leave voters not only don’t need to make a living from agriculture but are passed needing to make a living at all.
But many many farmers did vote leave here. The number of billboards in fields especially in the Eastern counties where big arable enterprises are based was very surprising. You’d have thought they would have voted to stay and preserve subsidies. It would probably be better if all European subsidies for Ag were removed, provided we can protect ourselves from production coming from subsidised countries

The EU is eventually going to get rid of subsidies or severly harm the UK agricultural market by 100 cuts.

We in the UK alone cannot shape the EU .. they are all against us on almost every vote.

So we take back control not only away from the EU but take over HMG. If Scotland can do it, so can we. I think many people are fed up with both main parties .. we just have to shape a populist party in our image.

Big ask but it can be done.

We are on for a roller coaster now. Election - a distinct possibility which would weaken our position I think with the EU. Nothing would surprise me over the coming 6 months.

Nobody gets it do they? I voted leave knowing full well there would be economic calamity for a few years. It's the price you pay for resisting long term oppression. Inevitable. Foreseen.

No deal is the only way ahead without relinquishing control yet again to the EU. The EU aren't daft. They won't let us have a halfway house.

Yet Mrs May persists with the misguided view that we can be in and out. Well we can't. Cut loose and carry on. Only way. EU will learn also the pain of not having free access to our markets.

Did I think it would be a walk in the park? You have to be joking surely? Of course there will be a hard a border between NI and Eire. How else can it work? The EU is a foreign power now.

Many people still in denial as to real ramifications of the referendum, PM included. Only BJ truly appreciates realpolitik now. PM in danger of sacrificing herself on her own altar of impossible compromise. Corbyn not a hope. LIberals would overturn referendum.

Your observations are correct apart from one: EU will learn also the pain of not having free access to our markets.

The whole consensus of the Brexiteers is for free market access from all around the world including the EU. However, if this is done under WTO we become a third country until individual bilateral trade deals are concluded. That at least will then bring the UK up to favoured trader status with many countries, so a lot of tariffs will still apply on our goods and services until this happens.
