Drilling headlands

Hi just after a bit of advice on drilling headlands. Trying to slowly take over our drilling round at work and the owd lad drills from the hedgeside and work across the field. Putting a 3 way headland in at the finish.
What’s the best way to do a 3 way headland without running on what’s drilled?? As they don’t want any wheelings when finished.

Any advise much appreciated as I’m very new to drilling, thanks Joe.

any 6m grass margins to run onto or not, if not you'll need to back into corner and drill out a few widths the length of your tractor and machine, then when you heading towards the corner you'll have to dive onto it, pickup then reverse around onto your next bout width, you will always get a couple of wheelings where you turn unless on your last run you back into the corners again and take them out by oversowing, if you have a 6m margin then you just drive onto that turn around and do your next width, or you can do 4 sided headland ans just sow the whole thing 1 way at the end but you will still get a couple of wheelings were you turn

No they plough tight to the hedge sides round us. I see what your saying though, similar to ploughing a headland corner then.

It is impossible to do a 3 way headland without running on headland

If you use gps do ab line then drill middle then go round and round headland

Going round and round is the most efficient way to do headland with any machine
I have always done full spray headland with whatever drill width
And with plough discs and rolling in the day

Triangle shaped fields 2 or 3 spray withs round and round then work off the middle is also most efficient with least wheelings

If you are doing it for someone else farmer or boss do it as the direct unless they are not too fussed

as some have said, do a 4 sided headland, its ploughing I question, I debate running the 1 side with plough up in air so all crossovers are same.

drilling, when starting a field stride out so I start on run 6 ie 16.5m to centre of drill (put my jumber on fence at 16m ish) drive to other end of field stride 16m out, mark floor with mi foot. drive aiming for jumper do not look back,

get to other end of field and realise you forgot to put metering wheel or marker down!!!
or strike out a random line if its a bad field.

5 drill widths is a nice headland can lift and spin straight around on brakes and go back in straight and square.

Find a nice spot to drill a straight line, somewhere you can pick a tree/post etc, start on a tramline, put both markers down, go both ways to finish landwork then drill headland round and round, if your 24m on 3m drill, drill once around then drill over half of that again to make correct for headland tramlines

how do you put both markers down?
Kuhn accord and I can only do it when I don't need to!!!
Been a while since I’ve used markers and that drill I used to do that with but think similar to above and/or putting in float and pressing the tramline cycle, vaddy I had few years back was easy as just select both.

I’ve done all sorts trailed mounted but Headland 99% round and round less wheelings and I’ve a mounted 6m combi so she’s heavy. Tried headlands last once.. never do that. I just Guess where the first tramline would be and go go go. I don’t drill any tramlines do them with the sprayer.

after this thread I have been thinking whats best way of ploughing headlands, we have normally done 3 sided with poor crossovers but have done some ring headlands both ploughed in and the 1 side ploughed out and I don't think its made a bad job tbh. easier
