Looking at investing in one of these trailers to move cows and calves. I love the idea of loading cattle without pushing them up ramps. Just drop the hydraulics and lower the floor of the trailer. Perfect.

Does anyone have any experience of these trailers? What’s to look out for on them? Any pitfalls over a conventional stock trailer? Does anyone have one for sale?!

Trying to find a decent second hand one but fear I may have to go down the new route.

I’ve got one, and for me as I’m usually on my own when loading cattle they’re very good. Mine was bought second hand. The U.K. importers advertise them in the classifieds in the farmers weekly sometimes.

If your buying second hand, check the rams work properly when going up and down. If they’ve been stood a while in the raised position they can be an issue as I found out with mine!

Been running them for several years on pigs rather than cattle but are well used on outdoor sows.
The newer blue ones have a different stub axle design to the older yellow ones.
We changed over a few years ago, our old yellow one is still going strong with its new owner after a stub axle redesign and rebuild.
After we had the newer one a couple of years one stub axle sheared, possibly due to operator error (he wasn’t running it with the hydraulic dampers engaged). Been no trouble since. So look at the condition of the stub axles if buying used.
All in all, a good bit of kit.
