Ram missing from market

Seller at a pedigree sale in 2012 had 2x10 pens of ewe lambs . I bought first lot marked purple dot , another guy bought 10 marked green . Auction swapped them on records and were no bloody help at all .... Told me to sort with other guy . He was charming , but had no idea which he'd bought as he'd bought quite a lot of ewes also . We agreed to effectively swap but mart wouldn't change paperwork , so we both went home with 'rubbish' movement papers !! Great ; you try to play straight and that is the result .....

That's what you get for trying to be honest in a den of thieves

I bought a pen of ewes a month ago from local mart....paid... went to load...someone had taken the pen. turns out person who bought the next pen took them by mistake and had let them out into his field... I didn't mind as much because ewes were almost identical.....I've just received a bill for the extra £4 per ewe that he bought but I took home

aye that sounds like the kind of thing that the honest profession of auctioners would do.
tell them to ram it.

No, explain that you bid to your budget for the stock you wanted, not £4 per head more for stock you didn't. Offer that they pay the haulier to do a swap to rectify their mistake or ram it

If you didn’t bid on them, I’d suggest you ask for a discount for getting the auctioneer out of a hole. Make sure you check the ear tags match the paperwork or it might cost you part of your BPS.

All this makes a mockery of movement licences.
You think? I'd say that's a broad sweeping statement and licences are important. How many times have buyers came home with the correct sheep compared to the wrong sheep? There will always be a fly fox taking someone else's dearer tup, there is chancers in every walk of life or those misreading a digit. Also, mistakes are made in livestock sales, it happens and it can be sorted out, yes it is sometimes a clerking or back penning error but it's unreasonable to chastise an odd mistake. I've saw plenty stock or paperwork presented from vendors that was incorrect with the expectation the mart would sort it. Selling 1000s of sheep in a day it would be impossible to not have an occasion error.

Don't let it torment you, it's all fixable.
