The problem is, with lots of youngsters, if they haven't been literally told everything, then they don't think of it & accept any responsibility. "Oh but no one told me it'd get hot in there in middle of August "
There are some tricky Q's eg how far can you transport animals if you don't have a cert? How long can they be kept in the vehicle? What ramp angle for sheep - many older trailers are apparently illegal as ramps are too steep - just tell them you put a brick under the tailgate - what a load of rubbish!!? How many m2 for each animal etc etc. How would you approach vegans standing in the road?! I went on a half day course, cost quite a bit £110.

No - and have had one since they were first dreamt up.
I expect you may be asked for it if you had an accident though??? - or do the police/insurance companies not know they exist??
No, but only had it a couple of months - trading standards suggested I should do it, so you can be got at that way too. And I can transport cattle too - but I've never handled a cow in my life!!
There is an interesting get out for small nos of sheep - no cert required if you're only transporting one sheep, eg a ram as I was. If you transport 2 sheep, you are OK if you have a passenger to look after the 2nd sheep. Similarly for 3, 4, 5 sheep - just carry the requisite no of passengers to each look after a sheep and you can go > 65km. Presume it's for showing purposes?

So how far can you transport animals without a certificate? I've shifted animals a mile or so down to the field, but dad always takes them to the auction. I would quite like to be able to take them to the auction myself, if only for the lovely bacon, sausage and egg butty at the other end.

I got sent these 2 pdf files from the place I went to for the online test (one for cattle, one for sheep) and had a read of those before hand. Didn't go on a course as such and passed first time.

No I wouldn't think so got asked once in Cirencester told him it was at home OK he said I've not got one and not going to get one they can f**k off

I'd no idea that they ran out but there was a thread on here (a couple of years ago??
