Oil Transfer Pump

I have a few tractors coming up for some big oil changes, normally I end up with it running over the floor.
But I was talking to a fitter that said they have a 12v oil transfer pump. They unscrew the bung in the tractor, screw in a tap of the same thread, couple the pump and transfer in into a barrel.
Could anyone tell me as to who makes theses or even if one can be made from bits in the yard, eg,power steering pump?
Thanks

Bit confused! If its changing the transmission oil, it will pour out ,down your arm, before you manage to get the tap srewed on after removing the plug. As for the engine oil, allways try and change that hot. Too hot to have on ones hands.
My method rightly or wrongly of changing the transmission oil, is to pump out the oil through a spool vavle until it stops, then often overhalf the oil is dealt with cleanly, then use something like a 45gall plastic barrell cut in half ,to drain the plugs underneath. Usually at least 2 drain plugs.

Have one of these for pumping waste oil from a huge storage tank to a smaller tank for our heaters. Run it through galv pipe coupled to the wall.

Other option if you fancy making one, 120w 4 pole motor, hydraulic gear motor. Couple them up in a box or on a platform of sorts and get some hose tails and do it that way.

The fitters seem to do it just okay, I think he said he had nearly 200L to drain out of a CAT backend with the pump.
He say he has to be quick with the tap.
I have a JD that has a drain above the PUH and that seems to go.all over the place
I use the spool as well, but I am still left with 80L in the tank to drain out.

That’s great, have you a link for the pump?

With speed. Buy the correct threaded on of tap. Drop the plug over a catch pan and screw the tap in the connect on to the tap. Leave the tap in from then on and put the plug in the bottom of the tap.

With all that palava, might as well do the job properly, why not fix a hydraulic hose to the drain plug, and have the end coming out somewhere accessable, so that there's no crawling about underneath the tractor, but what about the other ,one , two ,or three drain plugs?

Once the drain plug is replaced with a drain tap that can be screws into and pumped into a tank. Close the tap. Reason for the bung in the bottom of the tap is to stop all the oil coming out if it got knocked. Leave the tap in for good but plug the bottom of the tap. Belt and braces. Might spill a little oil getting the tap in but from then on it’s a clean job. Connect pump hose to tap and job done.

Totally wrong approach to the job, so @4440 ,youve some serious big kit, with big volumes of oil. The simple ,clean way of removing the oil would be to suck it out, or at least a big % age. You should be able to get a pvc hose down low into the oil, through some filling plug etc.

As above on a bigger scale?

Kenneth Wilson grain merchants ran a lot of Fodens with Gardner engines, they had a pipe to stick down the dipstick hole and suck the old oil out. Reliance garage in Brighouse had catching pans in the pits which was pumped out to a tank outside.

I did once think of using a quick release coupling, but as @essexpete says, frightened it would get knocked off

That's what the (deutz engined) manitou has now. Grand job when you can barely see what you're doing. No spanners required, no mess. Then they mount the filter on its side and hot oil pishes everywhere :banghead:
