Post emergence black grass control after no pre emergent?

My last field of wheat planted (in the last week of October) was heavily rained on before I could put on the pre emergent. How would you suggest I control the black grass now emerging - use something like Monolith, or try flufacinet type herbicides which claim that they are good even applied post emergent?

How big is the BG? And thick? I would be tempted to chuck some ffct pdm and DFF and see what it looks like in the spring. You could then use the su in the spring with more ffct and DFF maybe? TBF @Brisel is more likely to be right than me

exactly. has it ever been sprayed with an SU (Lexus, Atlantis etc) if not, Atlantis should kill 99% (still doubt that). if it has and BG is less than 1 leaf, chuck 2 doses of 240g FFCT on 3 weeks apart.

I'd go with @Brisel idea, it's still dry and mild and weeds are still growing to take up chem. If you wait till the spring will you be able to travel early enough to do the job before the blackgrass gets too big?

I wouldn't waste an opportunity now give it another wack in the spring if you need or you need to.

Thanks for all the replies. I was thinking of using Liberator and Brisels idea of using sounds interesting, although Neddys idea of two doses of FFCT sounds cheaper.
The BG is one leaf, fairly thin and was well controlled by Monolith last year.

Brisel's suggestion is best though you need active growth in the weed for SUs to work and you may not see that for a while now that snowmageddon has arrived. If really small now the two doses of fft should be effective.

As mentioned above, a flufenacet based application is probably best for application now. It will activity on the small emerged blackgrass, and any plants which have yet to emerge. I would not use FFT alone though, I would add in something else like DFF, pendimethalin, prosulfocarb, ethofumesate or SU chemistry.

If the blackgrass is still small and is likely to remain like that until spring, I would perhaps save SU chemistry until spring (if required), and use a product with and contact and residual activity as a partner to FFT now.

Brisel, I followed your advice and sprayed it with Liberator and Atlantis a week after asking the question and cursed you roundly when it seemingly didn't work for several weeks. However, very suddenly at the start of February, all the BG died. Of course it will have to be checked carefully.
Funnily enough there were lots of spraying opportunities last December and during January.

Pleased to hear this. Here we have had very good control too. From a sequence of pre and post emergence flufenacet. Combination of dry winter and good seedbeds provided ideal conditions for that chem IMO. We don’t use Atlantis ATM.
