Ewes 195% mule and a handful of easycare/exlana. 4% empty

Ewe lambs 168%. 7%empty.

More empty than we'd wish, but otherwise happy. Ewes Cs 4.5 +, flat backs all round...
That’s seriously high on ewe lambs? What’s the split of singles, twins triplets on them?

Catastrophic.
253 scanned mostly Tex X Mule. 160%
85 singles, 14 trebles.
Handful of empties but tups still in.
Will be result of absolutely no grass at flushing time, I reckon.
Had 18% ewe nuts for a month to help, waste of money? Who knows....
Am fast falling out of love with Texel blood.

Did my little flock just before Christmas. 12 twins 6 singles although scanner in his first year so could have missed a few lambs. 166% down on last year but happy enough that they are all in lamb; 6 were shearlings that had had a hard summer before I bought them.

We also supplemented with ewe nuts before tupping. Grass was non-existent!!

Fortunately only 57 of them, another 170 to go through they'll be more like 140%.

Can't remember exactly, (on holiday cleaning barns) but only two triplets, mostly twins.

Agreed, a terrible scanning for ewe lambs, but very pleased by the empty rate, and they are all well grown....

That’s a decent scan then and not a disaster if only 2 triplets (y)

scanned 864 swaledale ewes last night....146 singles,476 twins,192 triplets,14 quads, 30 empty....202%
Also scanned the 88 mule gimmer lambs that we couldnt sell last september....they were 53 singles,20 twins and 15 empty 106% so ideal really considering everyone was telling us we would have to take all the twin lambs off and let the hogg out with a single....a few empty but not really a disaster for smaller end hoggs.

Scanned the ewes today
The ewes averaged 1.98 up from 1.75 last year
The ewe lambs averaged 1.35
1.8 overall
The ewes are in great condition this year compared to last.

Great to see them in such good condition isnt it?
Some years would have spent £3000 by now on concentrate or liquid feed....havnt spent anything yet....payback for last spring.
The feed firms will be getting twitchy though!
