Would you agree with me that the extra burden of regulation imposed on slaughterhouses and general running costs has swallowed up some of the profit of wholesale lamb therefore putting continued downward pressure on farmgate prices?

I agree with that. Further pressures have been created as there is a shortage of staff, many of the skilled Eastern Europeans have moved mainly due to Brexit.

This has resulted in an increase in wages putting further strain on farm gate prices. Unfortunately it's always the farmer who suffers.

Let’s just hope it’s like the famous Dallas plot and we all wake up in the year 2020 and it was just a bad dream. Meanwhile as the Government fart about and the RPA seem even more useless than ever at paying us we desperately need a steady increase in lamb and beef prices to recoup our investment and keep things afloat till they sort themselves out
