I get them for £25 from a cosmetics factory in Hastings. They have allsorts there as well as IBCs - good clean metal barrels and wooden crates etc. Some stuff they give away just to clear it. I have to fight against my hoarding mentality not to take stuff just because it's free...

They're great for firewood as others have said. When I get round to it they'll be used for making liquid compost too.

Molasses - which is what I want them for.
my comment was meant generally, not a problem if you are 100% sure whats been in them ,however this week a racehorse trainer has been found in breach of the rules for an animal in their care . the apparent cause is that a member of the team used hair restorer on himself and cross contaminated a horse from rubbing his hands through his own hair and then passed it on to the horse, its not hard to imagine the consequences of any cross contamination coming from a used container in this ever more regulated/tested industry we are in

In that case buy them new... £60 is what my molasses supplier charges.

The last 2 I bought still had all their stickers on from new/first delivery. Something caustic IIRC. They aren't hard things to wash out - pressure washer and a wee bit detergent (y)
