The volume required to make a difference would be astronomical in logistics to both pipe and pump. And whilst there might be massive rainfall up there. Its predominantly coastal with small catchments that feed straight to the coast. Once upon a time as was mentioned by Roy's mate:rolleyes: there was talk of digging a channel from the southern ocean to lake Eyre, and creating an inland sea. I wonder how beneficial the added evaporation would have been if they did so?
But there about 6 decades too late on that one...

Oh, he was talking about Lake Eyre here as well was he ?
He was going on about it on a US forum & I challenged him about it but he never replied or commented :)
