Mixer wagon making a strange grinding noise when full. Had auger out yesterday and found bolts that hold gearbox in slack, tightened them all up, thought we'd fixed it. This morning same noise again. So into gearbox, still haven't found anything obvious. Replacing 2 main bearings when in there.

Anyone had anything similar with mixer gearbox/auger making strange noises when full?

Trying to get it before it does further damage.

Blades all tight? If you haven’t found anything in the gearbox there’s not really anywhere else to look

Thats only top half of box, don't know if we're brave enough to go into bottom. Only other thing could be is drive shafts. Its twin auger so shaft to backs a fair length. Doesn't feel to be any slack in them though.

Changed gearbox oil on Thursday and no filings etc in oil.

Have you taken a look on the floor inside the wagon?

We had a grinding noise at a certain point when the auger was turning, and when I opened the door I could see that there was a piece of the metal ring that joins the floor panels together had curled up

The pusher at the bottom of the auger was going over this and making the grinding noise.

Worth a look.

Will have a look. Its bound to be something simple. It wasn't mixing properly, so dad welded bits of metal onto it mad max style!

It does mix much better now but bound to have caused problem.

It was a great relief for me I can tell you when I saw what was making the noise!

They were quoting £5k for an auger[emoji33]

Squeaky bum time for a few days!

Screwdriver day.

Few extra double sockets around the workshop and a couple of 12m leads.

That a 3m replaced with a 6m? Loads more output! (y)

Yes, didn't really need the system disc on the 3m and have more acres to cover and every year less time to do it, so gone for a 6m :) another bonus is it has pre em markers, will only use the tines behind the wheels, just hope the 240hp is enough, should be, will be basically a 6m disc drill once the tines are out :)
