Sure Martina Anderson (the bomber) was once (still is?) Provisional SF's unionist outreach officer apparently.

The banner reading "England get out of Ireland" has flown in the New York parade since the 1940s.
Justification/Reasons for the banner appears to range from being "anti colonial", Irish Americans trying to be "more Irish than the Irish", an apparent belief within some nationalist/republicanism circles that if "British presence" is removed the unionists will magically forget they are British and realise they are "Irish"

I don't see anything being added by my further comment, if my pointing out that SF are always saying and doing things like this and that I don't see it as any big change, offends you, it was not my intention.

What could be added is support from yourself, as an Irishman, that you don't wish to see the planting stock deported. More than that, that you would actually wish for them to feel included in a United Ireland. Unless you don't...

As far as Sinn Fein is concerned, they are interchangeable. As you would know well.

It's easy enough for you to ignore it, as you don't live here anymore, but it applies to anyone related to the plantation of Ulster of course.
But in this case it's doesn't say Brits out, and what does say doesn't suggest that any people should get out, just the ruling from England.
Since this is their party aim, rather than just being offended at seeing the banner, one would should be offended permanently, as they permanently want England out of Ireland.

I still don't take offence even if it does apply to me, and it's pretty easy to take offence from across the water, if you want to.

Inaction is no less damaging, as history has shown.

I think it's great that you can come from Ireland and still be British. Of course geographically, and in other ways too, it must be remembered that Ireland is the real Little Britain... :)

It has really nothing to do with the banner for me, SF policy and beliefs are well documented for all to see.

It is their hypocrisy and the fact that most mainstrem media outlets let them get away with it annoys me. We hear Michelle Oneill and ML Mcdonald spout on about equality and respect for all, yet they do not afford the same values to those who have different views to theirs.

If they are so keen to get the English rulers out of Ireland, why will they not go back to Stormont and get on with governing Northern Ireland?

Would you want them back?

When you are from over there, to everyone over here you are Paddy, or Irish regardless of if you are from NI or ROI, and nobody cares what you have to say about it.

I know a guy frae bushmills who went to study in England. Someone tried to call him paddy. He told them quite plainly, 'Am nae paddy.' So they accepted that and agreed on the mutually acceptable name 'Mac'. :)

Ever been to an orange parade? Not likely.

I've never see a call for any Catholics to be deported.
Went to observe an Orange order parade while on holidays in Donegal, very civil and pleasant with plenty of bystanders watching from both traditions . A real community event. When the Orange order hall was burnt in an arson attack in Newtown cunningham the local GAA club gave their club hall for the orders use while the Orange hall was repaired.
Thats the sort of thing that brings people together mutal respect and support .
Unfortunately when most European and Americans as well as British hear the words Orange march the just think of Garvagy road, johnny adair and billy wright both well known sectarian killers adressing cheering crowds , cops beating people off the road , and David Trimble and Rev Paisley dancing a jig with glee after the mob prevailed . Then the Holy ghost school fracas where the army had to protect small kids from a loyalist mob so the could get to school. Images like these have a lot of people convinced worldwide that the Orange Order and loyalists are basically the same as the ku Klux klan .

Not true i know personally i think the Order ha a lot to offer not just in the north but in the country as a whole . There are many things that i would agree with them on and i dont feel the get a fair press Last year when the grand master asked his members in the south to vote in according with Christs teaching in the referendum was welcome his voice was as valid as anyones .

Im not trying to get at you or anyone but if the province is ever going to work it needs moderate and reasonable people like YOU to reach out and build a society thats fair and forward looking. If that fails unfortunately then the future belongs to the Shinner Sinners and who wants that .
