No till after grass

do you mean the likes of annual / perennial meadow grasses im not sure im too worried about them as they can fill in gaps be grazed and surely are'nt too competitive with the new seeds anyway .. well stop clover a bit I guess when establishing... creeping fescue sort of thing would be worse I suppose...

and don't you have to be aware of pastor/forefront residue on the soil for when drilling the new seeds ..thats what I meant about the ally.

Yes, the weed grasses like RSMG etc- these are what do for grass leys as they proliferate and don't respond to fertiliser as well and give far less yield. Growing wheat or similar helps clean the ground up of these.

Field got 2 ton lime per acre last summer
P and k at 1. And obviously produces bugger all.
not worried about loosing to much grazing time from it.
Got pile of fym to spread on it.
Got no drill so can only heavy Harrow broadcast seed and roll.
Don’t really want to spray off unless really necessary but can really drag it up with harrows.
Looking to strip graze with back fence. What would people advisable to throw on seed wise cheap and cheerful to improve soil structure organic matter etc.
Shave the whole field, flail mower if possible, disc it if possible and broadcast westawold and italian ryegrass into with Alsike clover, it will open up the grass and you can sow a more permenent solution in an year or two.
