Higher Eastbrook Farm Dispersal Sale full of surprises!

The excellent dispersal sale held at Higher Eastbrook Farm, Burlescombe, Devon comprised of over 1500 Lots and included over 20 Modern & Vintage Tractors, of which 15 were Massey Fergusons. The highly anticipated sale attracted national attention with purchasers attending from across the country with over 1000 different purchasers present on the day.

A wet lead up to the sale made car parking challenging on the farmland surrounding the property combined with narrow roads which threatened to bring the unseen volumes of traffic to a standstill but a one way system and the help of stewards and tractors ensured all attendees managed to attend, park and exit the sale with minimal disruption. Purchasers from Glasgow, Sussex, Chester, Ireland and North Wales made the journey to see the spectacular and unique collection go under the hammer with the addition of numerous phone bidders supporting the trade in the machinery lines.

Top price on the day was for the 1990 Massey Ferguson 390 4wd Tractor c/w Loader which soared to a huge price of £14,300 with the 1993 Massey Ferguson 362 4wd Tractor also exceeding expectations by reaching £13,000. Other notable prices from the line-up of tractors included a Massey Ferguson 240 2wd Tractor achieving £7000 and a 1966 Massey Ferguson 265 2wd Tractor achieving £6800 with the tidiest of the Massey Ferguson 135’s (5) being a 1963 Massey Ferguson 35X reaching £5,300. The Massey Ferguson 135’s (3) were led price wise by the 1997 Massey Ferguson 135 c/w Loader which soared to an impressive £6,400. Possibly the biggest surprise of the day was seen among the numerous outside entries when an International BTD 5 Crawler which had been brought to the sale by a local enthusiast achieved over 10x more than its reserve price and finally sold for £11,000.

Other notable and unexpected prices on the day included £380 for some pictures which narrowly avoided the bonfire while friends and family tidied up the site in the weeks leading up to the sale! Other vintage and collectable furniture from within the property sold to a competitive trade with over 15 items achieving £200+ on the day. Tractors in need of repair also sold well with a Massey Ferguson 135 2wd Tractor which remained split in half achieving £3100 with other part tractors realising £500 & £550 for other Massey Ferguson 35’s. Other relics included the 1973 SWB 88Inch 2 ¼ Diesel Landrover which again soared to a price of £5,500.

Over 320 different purchasers took a little bit of Higher Eastbrook Farm home with them each carrying part of a collection which had been a lifetimes work for the dec’d vendor, Stags were delighted to conduct the sale with long serving auctioneer Stafford Sampson who has been with Stags for over 40 years commenting ‘it has been one of the highlights of my career dispersing such a varied collection of Tractors, Machinery & Collectables’.

That’s a fantastic sale report, all credit to you, you have taken the time to load photos and give some background to the day.
Many people dump their sales into this section and then disappear.
