This is the new must have accessory for any machinery
Alemlube automatic greasing system. This does EVERY grease nipple on the cotton stripper, even the pivot & king pins on the rear axle. Just love it. Fill it with grease once a week & forget about it
PS - for anyone who doesn't know, I hate greasing & especially grease guns with a passion. Dirty filthy bloody things

The other essential accessory is a 20 yr old offsider to do all the blowing down & daily servicing while I have a cup of coffee :)
I punch the machine late through the night till the moisture comes in ( 12% for cotton, similar to grain ) & get up at about 7.00, meanwhile Liam starts early & services the stripper for me

These pics were taken at about 8.00am Good Friday morning. I'd punched through the night to finish this field, as we were moving across the road to another farm. However, I went to have a look at the job & their defoliation hadn't worked, still a lot of green leaf on the cotton. So - that f**ked those plans . . . We spent the next few hours catching up on a few little non urgent maintenance jobs ( rewiring the trailer lights in the air compressor, welding up a broken "oversize" escort sign, making sure everything was right to go, washing the Utes - a lot of cotton farms have strict bio security protocols of "come clean, leave clean", so it's always a good look to have clean vehicles ) & knocked off at about midday. We were at Mungindi in northern NSW, about 3 hours north of where I live at Gunnedah. Family are in Sydney at the Royal Easter Show, but going home on my own still a better option than sitting in a donga at Mungindi over Easter :) . Liam had a school mate at Boomi ( not far from Mungindi, that he was going to catch up with. They reckon we'll be right to go by Monday, so leave home at about 4am or so to get back up there

How long is the harvesting season. How many acres will you harvest. How many tons an hour will you be doing

We will be going for about 4 months
We have about 12,000 hectares booked up, but are getting more work ( that would have been done by pickers ) due to the dry conditions / poor crops . . .

Err, cotton doesn't really work in tonnes per hour - it's totally diffferent to grain harvesting in that regard . . .

Work rate / speed / ha per hour / round modules produced, all depend on crop & field conditions . . . How long is a bit of string ?
We could be covering 10 or 12 ha / hour, but covering 5 or more ha to make a module
Or, we could be doing half that speed but punching out a nugget every ha or less . . .
