Seeking perrmission for metal detecting + astrology in exchange...

Hi folks, may be a long post but please bear with, I have moved down to Leeds from Scotland and I need HELP!! I used to spend a lot of time outdoors on the coast sea angling but since moving to Leeds I can't and this is affecting in a bad way being stuck indoors so I thought I would take up a new hobby and buy a metal detector. Wow what a difficult hobby to have now I've gotten my detector and membership with the National Council for Metal Detectors ( NCMD ) I can't get any permission to go on any land.
If anyone has land and could give me perrmission to use my metal detector and later at night with a telescope if your land has dark sky quality, I in exchange would gratefully do any work, pest control or land maintenance, repairs, fences and anything I can help you with really. I will Respect your land and yourself 100% as I do love the outdoors and admire those who live and work there. I could even run errands or pick small things up for you as I have a 125cc to get about on.
I have £10,000,000 that's right £10,000,000 public liability insurance and if there is ever anything of value that I find on your land, it will be split 50/50 between us and I agree to keep your location to myself and not tell anyone else about the location. Thanks for taking the time and bearing with me as you read my post, I'm desperately seeking to start my new hobby as I can't pitch a tent on the coast with a beachcaster anymore and I really miss the tranquillity of being alone surrounded by beauty. Can anyone help get me started and give me permission please and in return I'll do anything I can to help you with your work on your land and such. Again thanks.

I think that you mean astronomy, not astrology. Or are you Russel Grant?
Mate if i could be arsed i could shoot you down in flames when trying to be wide with the patter and taking the pee Sharpy. When typing from a fone there's something called " predictive txt " which causes many typo's for everyone no just me, also a great knowlege of astronomy is needed for astrology and at end of the day im still just asking for perrmission to go on land, not inviting keyboard warriors to a slagging match.
P.S. Thanks for the good welcome to a forum that i thought was for people of some level of intelligence and knowlege to share, thats the sort of reply you get on facebook, people can only point out the wrong rather than speak about the subject mentioned

I generally proofread before posting, everyone cocks up now and again, particularly me. Incidentally I was speaking about the subject you mentioned which was astrology, you could have thanked me for pointing out your mistake, then asked a moderator to correct your title etc. Instead you take the huff. Ho hum.

Hi sebenex3 it is a very daunting task to ask for the (sacred holy grail of permission) I have been where you are climbing walls itching to get out and find the hoard. Firstly it’s good that you have offered your services and the custodians of the said holy grail know you are willing to lend a hand.
Secondly it does take time, and also ask a few farm related questions it has been an eye opener for me and far more interesting than I ever thought it would be.
So all the best with your quest it will happen.
Regards Tony

Thanks for the bit of encouragement pal as you said just keep at it, gonna start going to the beaches, I found many interesting things from a samosa sized meteor and many pieces of Roman til I g and a few coins when I used to walk along the coast as I was sea angling and that was without a metal detector.

I think I am one of the few farmers on here who has not only answered an ad for metal detecting, but invited people out, had them detecting my land, and been thanked for it afterwards.

I shall watch the thread with interest to see how many of the 36,000 or so members on the forum think it would be a good idea to give you permission.;)

Im not from that area. I'm up in Northumberland and a detectorist. I think one of the obstacles is not knowing how to ask the right question and hoping it dosent come across as a me me me want want want sort of question. I think a good relationship between farmer and detectorist would be beneficial for both. A farmer can learn if wanted the kind of heritage his or her field has and on top of that the detectorist will remove rubbish blown into fields and take away rusty old scrap aswel as informing land owner of any damage like holes in fences or collapsed walls. Maybe even attempt a fix like myself a labourer on building sites I can access all materials so no cost to farmer. The farmer can also benefit from allowing a registered team for example the group i am part of (north of tyne detecting) on Facebook to give the field a good going over which can land yourself about 500 quid or more as each person pays 10 pound and theres a few hundred of us being about 50 ish usually turn up. We also give to a local young boxing club to help with travel to tournaments.

Hope this helps a little
