Crankshaft oil seal leak

ran the tractor the other day, possibly the first time it has really warmed up for years following restoration. Noticed a leak from the tell tale hole, which stopped dripping after a few minutes.

The tractor has been laid up for a long time, my question is... is it possible the rope seal may swell and seal now it has had a good run or is it splitting time?

4203 Perkins in a 1964 MF65

Thank you

I thought there was additives you could get to stop them leaking. Don't know how good they are.
Surely you would top up the oil and give her another run to see if it's still leaking.

Thank you. Gut reaction is to change the seal, don’t want to hugger the clutches. However, it might be simply a dried out seal so a good run might sort it. Is it possible? Not leaking through wear but possibly lack of use?

I have used Lucas Oil Condioner for this problem . Drain the oil from the engine . Put in the litre of Lucas , and then bring up to the mark with ordinary engine oil . It stopped the leak . I think it's American , and available in a lot of motor factors .

Worth a shot . Hell of a lot easier than splitting the tractor.

Couple of possibilities
Rear crack seal
Cork gaskets
Oil to thin a 20/50 oil or sae 30/40 Is best in these

The seal housing could be leaking too

breather clear as suggested which is good

I'd give it a run around and monitor it for a few hours

Don't think it will get to the clutch, as long as the drain in the bottom of the bell housing is clear
Lots of Masseys leak oil at the crankshaft
Just like David browns leak at the bottom of the block and fords can't keep oil and water separate
Thank you, so maybe I don’t need to panic

Thanks mate. I will run it down to the next village tomorrow after work, 6 mile round trip, should warm her up properly. The oil is golden so not thin, I guess it is the correct grade.
