Nice and leafy, too (y)
it has gone to head a bit
we are a little tight for feed at the moment that's the trouble with making so much silage [something else to:scratchhead: about] but I was going to try to keep leaving a good bit of cover on here and see how it goes, there are 22 cattle on 3 acres which isn't really enough we should be able to add some reinforcements in a few days when we sort the bulls for the spring calvers

Could you stick some sheep in with them, too?
Roger on being a bit tight for feed, we are a bit that way as well, as I mentioned up the thread a bit I am topping them up with any dodgy silage, I wasn't planning on it still being so dry but I can get away with it for now.
The hoggs run the other way but the calves and bulls go crazy when they see their tractor coming.

The other option would be to not feed any and spread them out but that defeats the purpose a little; they can push down the last of the standing hay or eat it, and earn their keep.

Not too many weeds in here which I am happy about, as all the townies look at this bit
they must :scratchhead::scratchhead: at times

Often I only discover being on fire after taking my welding helmet off, which can allow things to be fairly well involved.

I have kept welding even knowing I am on fire when doing something tricky and its going well
"Manmade fibre" clothes :facepalm::banghead: Hopeless for the workshop.

Actually these are ridiculously cheap for the workshop c/o @Welding Supplies Direct :

and I have a pair of chrome leather riding chaps stitched into a quick release belt that protect my legs when seriously welding and grinding (when I remember). Donning the chaps and jacket only takes 30 seconds!

We have a lot of ground moisture but not much heat so everything is growing slowly. Cows are on twice a day moves and sheep every 1.5 days. So essentially I have halved their occupation time. I wanted to put them into one mob, but just couldn’t organise it. I am keen to see the results on my next round. I am only on day 7 ( started grazing on the 17th) so it will be a while.

Cattle going back to the hill last night

The hill has held up pretty well in the dry so far.It looks a world apart from this time last year hopefully get some moisture this week now as it does get punished with being south facing

Got to love these beetle type insects they don’t half like eating the dock leaves. They don’t half punish them when they get going

30 days recovery in here, I just strip grazed this but I let them have it in bigger lumps than I would do normally to tread more down So they only got 4 days grazing I would normally get 6 days out of it

How many days recovery are people giving there lots.
I’ve dusted some clover over this to.
I’m thinking of giving another 2/3 weeks before I go again

How many leaves does the grass have and is it shooting up a head.
From the look of it longer would be good.
My thoughts with being dry to extend the rotation as much as possible but if seed heads are starting to show to skip around it all fast to slow up the grasses going to head. I may be wrong though

I’ve never counted how many leaves are on a plant before.
This field is predominately damp and well sheltered from to much sun with where it is and the trees so did reasonable even in last years drought.
Another 3 weeks it will be heavy on again.
I don’t want to go to long so to give the clover a chance I’ve dusted on. And to eat / punish the docks again before they start to set seed
