Yet again my tractor won’t start. When turn key pump doesn’t hum at all. A mechanic told me years back to hit the tank a firm smack and Itl kick it into life. Isn’t affected it at all this time. So assuming it’s new lift pump needed. My issue is why oh why does she need a lift pump as often ? If it’s new pump needed Itl be the 3rd if not the 4th iv had to put on it in the time iv had it. Diesel be clean and each time the cap is open I clean the filter on bottom of the pump

Had a 6110 that required a new pump every month at one stage. Got so mad one day I just put in a hand squeeze pump on the line. Problem solved pump it in morning would work all day no matter how often you knocked the engine off!! Done 3 years that way would definitely recommend it!!

Put a non return valve in the line between the tank and filter.

Sounds more like a wiring fault, it'd be worth testing the pump when you take it out just to make sure it's definatly gone.

Replace, those valves can also die. Easily tested.

I’ve got around this issue on two of ours by removing the pump and replacing with the updated 20series barrel pump which is fitted on the underside of the cab near the access hatch and piped to suit. Also fitted an in-line 50 series fuel strainer under there too so it is easily serviceable and also visible.
